Well, it’s been 2.5 months…… and a lot has happened.
For those that don’t know, Teebs is Kate’s dad and he was kind enough to learn a new vocation in life, and paint our whole extension, but more of that later.
I decided after my last post to subject myself to more dirt. This is the best way i could get into the roof with my large frame.
The insulation on the left is what i needed to install. Inca and Sisko were performing quality checks to ensure R value compliance.
The roof guys came out and fitted our new gutters and rain heads.
I hired a vacuum cleaner to clean out more of the roof, but it was p00 so i used it to clear the mess downstairs.
Just before we went on holidays we had to clear out our old living room and setup a new living room in our spare bedroom. As you can see, it was a bit cramped but i made sure i had my xbox guitars available!
The back of the room!
And here is the old living room (which has now become our study, laundry and downstairs throne!!!)
And here is some of my handy work, tearing apart the room and removing all of the plaster.
So now we leave to go on a week of holidays……. a lot happened.
We didn’t take any photos in HK, so here is a picture of this guy:
Whilst we were away, a lot happened. Here is a montage of all the plaster work that has taken place:
Upstairs:
And here is the new deck out the back!
Some nice wet wood there!
AND SO THE PAINING BEGINS!!!! Enter Trevor Bruce Knox:
Inca just checking that TB is ok to enter inside.
Because we have 2.7 metre ceilings, the stairwell is 5.4 metres high, therefore we needed to hire scaffolding to get up that high.
Teebs said he liked to get high, so he offered to get up there and paint! Here are some action shots:
This is me pretending to help:
Whilst we were paining, the floor sanders also finished up. We’ve used Tallow wood as our choice of wood:
Now that we finally had some more space, and Teebs was staying at Allie’s – Knox and I decided to have a camp out…. it was pretty uncomfortable but nice to have space. We gave the fire a good test.
We still didn’t have heating at this time, so everyone had to rug up!
Now that we had more space, we moved the old kitchen into where the new kitchen will be installed, we also go a new couch and moved into the back:
Teebs kept painting for another 6 months, and then we finally had our downlights fitted, heating installed, kitchen, laundry and bathroom cabinets installed (without benchtops – to be delivered 6th Aug).
Here’s what the living room and kitchen looks like now:
We used 2pac paint, and one side of the cupboards is Linseed colour, and the rest white.
The next pictures are where our living room used to be, and now is a laundry, powder room and study:
Here’s the laundry (with green door that needs painting),
Half finished powder room:
And the study:
Now let’s now go upstairs. We had new carpet installed a few weeks ago, and everything is ready to go except the bathroom. Just need some furniture now. For the time being it’s my GAMES room, oh yeah:
and another little study:
Here is the nearly finished bathroom, waiting on bench tops and for Gino to finish (should be complete this weekend – 9th of Aug).
Last but not least is the bedrooms, and we’ve set up little ones nursery in preparation for her coming into the world:
So that’s it for the time being. The last blog entry will be pictures of the finished product…… and all being well a healthy baby girl and a happy Knox and Wix.
Special thanks to Trevor Bruce for all of his hard work around the house.
until then, here’s Kate looking nice and me looking like a stunned mullet. Toodlepip
