Well, it’s been a while, but i am finally getting this blog up to date. The Old Cheese and I are off to Honkers for a couple of weeks so instead of making Mr Qubrosi wait, I thought that i would create our latest entry……
Well the first floor is down and completed…… then Kate and I went to Japan, and when we came back….BEHOLD!
This is from the “rear”. On the ground left is the dining room, ground right is the ‘alfresco’ dining room. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms.
From the inside (ground floor)
Upstairs….
City views from upstairs……
From the street……
DIRT, MUD and CLAY
With all this building it creates an immense amount of rubbish. To prepare the site for Jake (everyone’s favourite chippy) so that he could put scaffolding up to clad the house in Spotted Gum, I had to clear 2 6 cubic metre truck loads of dirt. It’s Bobcat (Goldthwaite) time!!!!
I of course needed a quick tutorial from Dean (because I slid into the side of the house the first time due to the wet mud)…
You could tell that he had plenty of experience when it came to being knee deep in anything brown – He even gives a big thumbs up to prove it.
I may not have had the dirt moving experience, but i had the flair!!!
A BIG THANKS to Tommy for providing me with the hard hat as a birthday present last year!!! I felt extra safe - Even though i didn’t need to wear it!
That’s a Good Clad.
Now that everything is cleared, we can start cladding….. and here it is.
The remaining original portion of house is staying as weatherboards. This is the front bedroom which is waiting for the new window to be placed in. Noisy, hot and annoying builders wrap flapping preventing sleep for a good 2 weeks!!
A good example of old and new.
Aircon ducting goes in…..
CLADDING CONTINUES
What do you think Sisko?
Don’t put your nose up at me!
And here is Jake cladding. He’s good with his wood!
I though it may have been a good idea to vacuum the roof due to the immense amount of dust (around 60 years worth).
This was a bad idea.
and that’s it to now.
The Sparkies have completed half of their rough in and the plumber is roughing in tomorrow.
Whilst we are away the plaster is going in. I’d say we’re 2 months off from moving into the back. and then the fun can start on the front.
More to come when we’re back…….. toodlepip.
